Experiment 2 - FINAL SUBMISSION

FINAL SUBMISSION

WEEK 1: Axonometric Sketches:

12x Axonometric Sketches

WEEK 2: Axonometric Amalgamations:

WEEK 3: Gradient Textures:

36x Textures

FINAL MODEL:

The architecture I've designed was derived from the following amalgamation:

CONCEPT 1: "SOME FLOWS ARE REDUNDANT BUT NOT WASTED"
+
CONCEPT 2: "COMBINE WORKS WITH THE USE OF LIGHT"
=

"THE FLOW OF LIGHT BETWEEN REDUNDANT FORMS CREATES A SPACE IN WHICH NO ELEMENT IS WASTED"

Out of the 36 custom textures, I chose the following three:

 LIGHT

MEDIUM

HEAVY

LUMION RENDERS:

The final model embodies a form 'pinched' between two distinct towers, and stretched between three points both on the ground and suspended above it.

The main walkway, made of thin sandstone slabs, connects the Squarehouse and Roundhouse to a raised platform, from which commuters can either ride one of two lifts down to the platform, or continue to the Tyree Building or the New College Village building across Anzac Parade.

EXP 2 Sneak Peek :)

PROGRESS!

I've spent most of today playing around with the SoapSkin extension for Sketchup, which has turned a design which I thought would be impossible to create into one that is just a tad less impossible.
